and all flesh shall see it together

History will have to record the greatest tragedy of this period of social transition was not the vitriolic words and other violent actions of the bad people but the appalling silence and indifference of the good people. Our generation will have to repent not only the words and acts of the children of darkness but also for the fears and apathy of the children of light.
Martin Luther King Jr. Is one of my heroes. Not just because of the incredible things he did to bring about social justice, but because he once said:

"There is within human nature an amazing potential for goodness".
When someone like Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, who saw horror and hatred spilling forth from the human race on a daily basis, says something like this my mind is blown. Because it reveals the kind of person that he was.

The kind that saw hope in the midst of oppression,
healing in the eye of the storm.

He scaled the walls of hatred and looked over them and saw the promised land. He saw love and wholeness within the warped and destroyed.

I want to be this kind of a person.

I want to see goodness like Martin Luther King saw goodness. Not just in that which is already obviously good, but also in that which is confused and marred and brutal. I want to look past that, like he did, and see Christ and goodness and the original intent.

I want to never be silent-- no matter how hard it is. I want to speak up even if my voice is shaking. I want to inspire change and I want to break down barriers.

I want to see the brotherhood within all mankind. And I want all mankind to see it too. Together.

I have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted, every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made straight and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed and all flesh shall see it together.

...I want to be that kind of person.
