lunar excursion module

So I guess I should explain.

I mean honestly. She rocks like Boulder Valley Montana!

And when Christmas rolled around she kept telling me that the gift she made me was gonna blow me away. She told me this with wide blue eyes and a mysterious grin on her face.

I was unbelievably excited. I mean, she and I are inseparable nerds and I was really looking forward to seeing what she came up with.

And she wasn't kidding. I WAS BLOWN AWAY. TO. THE. MOON. (Serious.)

This is what she created for me:

Okay, so if you're not a total space nerd like my sister and I are, you might not know what it is you just looked at.. and on the other hand you might know. But if not,
It's called a Lunar Excursion Module (LEM) A fragile spacecraft used by all the Apollo astronauts to land on the Lunar Surface.

Here's the actual thing:

...Pretty awesome, right?
And the interior:

I actually got to land the LM in a simulator at the Mcauliffe-Shepard Discovery Center and I actually landed it without blowing myself up. It was awesome. I'd go back there in a heartbeat just to do it again. <3

Needless to say, the LM is just a crazy awesome machine. The model my sister made me stands about 7 inches tall and is unbelievably realistic.

Thank you so much to my sweet sister for such an amazing gift. (Though it still doesn't compare to her awesomeness.:))

And, by the way? You NEED to follow my sister's blog. Seriously.

God Bless!
